Syed Abid Ali
Ali received his M.S. Degree in Computer Science from the University of Georgia (USA). After a few years of teaching, he moved on to serve as an IT manager for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia (USA) (for over 13 years). In addition to his position and responsibilities at Araware, he currently serves as a Technology and Business Consultant to different companies.

Dr. Rabia Jafri

Rabia received her B.S. degree in Mathematics and Physics followed by B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Georgia (USA). In addition to her position at Araware, she currently serves as an Associate Professor of Information Technology at King Saud University (Saudi Arabia).

Rodrigo L. Campos
Rodrigo L. Campos graduated with a bachelor‘s degree in Computer Engineering from CEFET-MG in the state of Minas Gerais. After finishing his bachelor’s degree, Rodrigo began and continues to pursue a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Georgia (USA). He is currently working on cross-departmental projects. His areas of interest are Machine Learning, Augmented and Virtual Reality, GPU programming and Computer Vision.

Hamid R. Arabnia received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Kent (Canterbury, England) in 1987. He is currently a Professor of Computer Science at University of Georgia (Georgia, USA), where he has been since October 1987. His research interests include parallel and distributed processing techniques and algorithms, supercomputing, Big Data Analytics (in the context of scalable HPC), imaging science (image processing, computer vision, and computer graphics), and other compute intensive problems. Methodologies that promote cross-disciplinary education is also of great interest. Applications of interest include: health informatics, medical imaging, and security. Most recent activities include: Studying ways to promote legislation that would prevent cyber-stalking, cyber-harassment, and cyber-bullying.
Prof. Arabnia is Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Supercomputing published by Springer. Dr. Arabnia is Fellow and Advisor of Center of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organized Crime Research (CENTRIC); Academy Member, University of Georgia Teaching Academy (Program initiated by Carnegie Foundation), inducted on November 2, 2015.
Prof. Arabnia has published extensively in journals and refereed conference proceedings. He has about 200 peer-reviewed research publications as well as 250 edited research books in his areas of expertise. He has been a PI/Co-PI on about $8 Million externally funded projects/initiatives and on about $200,000 internally funded projects. He has also contributed projects for justification for equipment purchase (grant proposals worth over $4 Million – awarded). During his tenure as Graduate Coordinator/Director of Computer Science (2002-2009), Dr. Arabnia secured the largest level of funding in the history of the department for supporting the research and education of graduate students (PhD, MS).
Dr. Amer Mahmood
Associate Professor, Senior Scientist & Principal Investigator of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Dr. Amer Mahmood received his MSc from Copenhagen University in the field of Autoimmune Destruction of beta cells in Type 1 diabetic patients. He obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences in the field of Human Embryonic PluripotentStem Cell Research and Bone Biology from the University of Southern Denmark where he successfully differentiated human embryonic stem cells into mesoderm and further in bone, fat and cartilage forming mesenchymal stem cells. He did his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Biomedical Research Center, Department of The Molecular Endocrinology & Stem Cell Research Unit (KMEB, University of Southern Denmark); he studied the expression of human DLK-1 a novel regulator of bone mass that mediates estrogen deficiency–induced bone loss in mice.
Dr. Mahmood was Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator in Stem cell research at King Saud University in the Stem Cell Unit Department of Anatomy. In 2017, he was promoted to Associate Professor of Stem cell and Regenerative Medicine. His recent research focus is on the field of Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, particularly in skeletal-bone disorders. Dr. Mahmood has also been working extensively in the field small RNA including micro-RNA and siRNA in addition to Nano-fibrous scaffold for bone-, blood vessel and cartilage regeneration. Additionally, his group is looking at differentiation of iPSCs into different mesodermal lineages. Dr. Mahmood’s group has also initiated the first clinical trials with adult stem cells in Saudi Arabia.
